Thai Massage - Nuat bo’rarn

Is one of the oldest massage techniques dating back some two and a half millennia, to the time when Gautama Buddha himself was still alive. “Nuat” means “to touch with the intention of imparting healing”, while “ bo’rarn” is derived from the Sanskrit language and means “ancient, sacred and revered”. These words put together “Nuat bo’rarn” literally means “ancient massage”.

This form of massge is said to have been developed by Buddhist monks and passed by them to their students and then on again to their students until the techniques spread around the Eastern countries and then, in more recent times, spreading further afield to reach Western cultures.

My massage incorporates the philosophies surrounding these ancient concepts, using the stretching exercises developed by yogis in India, the application of pressure to the “Sen” of your body and the use of Essential Oils to aid physical and emotional healing.

Sen are energy channels running through the body. When the Sen become blocked, the energy becomes inactive and the body loses its balance causing discomfort or illness to a person.

The ultimate aim of Thai massage is for the receiver to attain spiritual enlightenment and harmony. At a lower level, Thai massage will activate the capacity of the body to heal itself and then to promote better health and well-being.

In the shorter term I would hope that you leave me with your body feeling relaxed and all the stresses of your day will have been released.

Although one session will have an immediate effect in relaxing you and easing any aches, many of my clients find that it is from repeat visits that the greatest benefits can be felt as their Sen start to flow freer.
